  • KAY BERRY

    Kindergarten Teacher

    Experience:

    Mrs. Berry taught at St. John's Lutheran, Merrill, Wis. (1974-1977), Immanuel Lutheran, Rock Island (1977-1981) Trinity Lutheran (1984-Present).

     

    Family: Mrs. Berry has two grown daughters and two grand-daughters.

     

    Hobbies: Mrs. Berry enjoys reading, eating, gardening, being involved in LWML and Bible study.

     

    What is special about Trinity: The school. Every child is a unique child of God with special qualities that need to be learned and used to glorify God. Using what God has given us is a process and not just a product, which includes a balanced education in all areas; spiritual, emotional, social, physical, and academic.

  • MELISSA PAULING

    Kindergarten Teacher

    Experience: Mrs. Pauling taught for eight years at Immanuel Lutheran School in Alexandria Virginia, both in first and second grades, and kindergarten. Mrs. Pauling has been teaching at Trinity Lutheran for five years.

     

    Family: Mrs. Pauling is married to Steve, who is from Alexandria, Virginia. We also have a dog - Mya. 

     

    Hobbies: Mrs. Pauling enjoys playing piano, reading, and playing volleyball. Here at Trinity, I volunteer with the youth group, coach volleyball, and is in the church choir. My husband and I take many road trips, especially back to our hometowns in Virginia and Indiana. 

     

    What is special about Trinity: It is awesome to see the Holy Spirit at work in the lives of the families and community at Trinity. I appreciate how students, teachers, families, and congregation members pray for one another.

    Experience: Mrs. Hussong has been teaching at Trinity since 1997. 

     

    Family: Mrs. Hussong was born and raised southern Illinois. Mrs. Hussong is married to Matt, who was born in Minnesota and raised in Wisconsin. 

     

    Hobbies: Mrs. Hussong loves to bake, read, and play volleyball.

     

    What is special about Trinity: Trinity is like a family. The people are friendly and welcoming.

  • JAMES ULLMAN

    1st Grade Teacher

    Experience:

    Trinity Lutheran, Davenport, IA (2005 - Present)


    Family: Mr. Ullman was born and raised in Evansville, Ind. Mr. Ullman is married to Mrs. Ullman, and they have two sons.

     

    Hobbies: I enjoy playing table tennis and watching football. Go Packers! I also enjoy playing with my two boys. 

     

    What is special about Trinity: I love that I get to go to the Divine Service and Bible Study every Sunday. I'm thankful for the family atmosphere that is present at Trinity.

    Experience: Mrs. Divarco has been teaching at Trinity since 2015.

  • LISA SHOUMAKER

    2nd Grade Teacher



    Education:

    • B.S. Education - Concordia University Nebraska

    Experience: Ms. Shoumaker has 26 years of teaching experience. Ms. Shoumaker joined Trinity’s staff in 2008.


    Family: Ms. Shoumaker has two adult children both born in St. Petersburg, Fla., and raised in DeWitt, Iowa, and Peoria, Ill. Ms. Shoumaker has three grandchildren.


    Hobbies: Music- guitar/singing, exercise-walks/biking.


    What is special about Trinity: Trinity is a very family friendly place. I am thankful every day that I GET to be here with my colleagues and students and people in the congregation. God has richly blessed me to be a blessing in this place. I have taught in a few different schools, and Trinity is the greatest of all. God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are truly in this place!

    Family: Mrs. Ullman was born and raised in Eau Claire, Wis. Mrs. Ullman is married to James, and they have two sons. 

     

    Hobbies: I enjoy reading, volleyball, and watching the Green Bay Packers.

     

    What is special about Trinity: I love the atmosphere of where I work. We feel like a family. I also really enjoy the music during the divine service.

    Experience: Ms. Jensen has been teaching 26 years, and it’s her first year teaching at Trinity.

     

    Family: Ms. Jensen was born and raised in DeWitt, Iowa. She has two children – a daughter and a son.

     

    Hobbies: Ms. Jensen likes baking, papercrafting, reading, puzzles.

     

    What is special about Trinity: I like how everyone is friendly, just like a family.

    • M.A. Education - Concordia University, Nebraska

    Experience: Mr. Holste has been teaching since 1982, which has included schools in Florida, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois and Iowa. Mr. Holste joined Trinity’s staff in 2012.


    Family: Mr. Holste is the third of four children, and teaching runs in our family. Both of my parents are retired teachers. Also, two of my siblings are teachers, along with a sister-in-law. In addition to my parents, siblings, and their spouses, I have two nieces, two nephews, a nephew-in-law, a great-nephew, and a great niece.

     

    Hobbies: I enjoy visiting major league baseball parks and have been to all of the current ballparks except for three. 

     

    What is special about Trinity: One thing that I really like about Trinity is that I get to share God's love with students and co-workers daily. I also get to hear about God's love from them, too. I enjoy that we can forgive each other when we do wrong. There is also a real joy when you see a child who has been struggling with a concept have that "aha" moment where it suddenly makes sense.

    Experience: Mrs. Bremer has been at Trinity since 1996, where she spent most of her time as the school’s librarian. She also has been a classroom teacher in Lutheran schools in Memphis, Tenn., and Rock Island. 

     

    Family: Mrs. Bremer is married to John, and they have two daughters, three grandchildren. 

     

    Hobbies: Mrs. Bremer enjoys reading, puzzles, games.

     

    What is special about Trinity: There is a feeling of family at Trinity. I enjoy the faculty and the atmosphere at Trinity.

    Experience: Trinity Lutheran School (2005 to the present).

     

    Family: Mrs. Koenig was born in Cedarburg, Wis., and moved to Toledo, Ohio. She has been married – to her husband Jeff - since July 2006. They have been blessed with three children. 

     

    Hobbies: Mrs. Koenig enjoys family time, working on puzzles, crocheting, playing the violin, and reading. 

     

    What is special about Trinity: I like teaching in a Christ centered environment; where children can learn to live in the world but not be of the world.

    Experience: Miss Hedrick taught first grade at at Our Savior Lutheran Church and School - Arlington, Va., for three years. This is Miss Hedrick’s first year teaching at Trinity.

     

    Family: Miss Hedrick, who was born and raised in Davenport, is a Trinity Lutheran alum, attending preschool-eighth grade.

     

    Hobbies: Miss Hedrick enjoys traveling, hiking (both short and long distance trails), getting outside with her pups, and refinishing furniture. 

     

    What is special about Trinity: As a new teacher at Trinity, I am especially thankful for the many dedicated teachers on staff. Their love for teaching and their students is evident day in and day out and I am thankful for the leadership they provide - not only to the students at Trinity, but to new teachers as well. And....of course, I am thankful for the opportunity to share my faith with my students each and every day! What a blessing that is to everyone (students, faculty/staff, parents, and visitors) that walks through our halls.

    Experience: Mrs. Wall began teaching at Trinity in 2006. She is an artist specializing in painting, printmaking and fibers.

     

    Family: Mrs. Wall was born and raised in Burlington, Iowa. Mrs. Wall is married and has three grown children.

     

    Hobbies: Mrs. Wall loves art and loves to teach others in the community about the joys of art.

     

    What is special about Trinity: Trinity offers a wonderful family atmosphere, supporting each other in times of joy and need.

    Experience: Mrs. Meyer began teaching in 1980 at the Lutheran School for the Deaf in Detroit. She also has taught in Illinois, Hawaii, Nebraska and Michigan. Mrs. Meyer joined Trinity’s staff in 2008.

     

    Family: Mrs. Meyer is married to Bill, and they have two grown daughters and a son-in-law as well as two grandsons. 

     

    Hobbies: Mrs. Meyer enjoys sewing, cooking, swimming, and playing with my grandsons.

     

    What is special about Trinity: The people at Trinity are friendly and caring. I have the privilege of serving with dedicated individuals who make coming to work enjoyable.
