For Erin Mackenzie, one of her greatest joys of being a missionary is when she sees the lightbulb come on.
“When hosting volunteers on-field, when it clicks that we are one in Christ, and that people who are outwardly quite different from them are members of His one body – that brings me great joy,” Erin shared.
Erin, who is a missionary in the Latin America and Caribbean region based in the Dominican Republic, serves as a regional volunteer coordinator.
Erin, who will be presenting at Trinity Lutheran on March 19, became interested in missionary work in high school.
“A mission trip to the U.S./Mexico border is what convicted me to major in Spanish with the singular goal of being a missionary,” Erin shared.
Erin, who was born in St. Louis and graduated from Drury University in Springfield, Mo., with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish, says the needs of the mission field are great.
“More missionaries are needed – not only called workers, but support staff with vocations like accounting and finance, communications, project management and information technology,” Erin shared.
