Whether it’s at 1122 West Central Park in Davenport, Iowa, or some 2,000 miles away, Christ is present wherever His Word is taught in its truth and purity.
“We are all members of one body, no matter the tribe, race, or language,” shared Erin Mackenzie, who is a missionary in Latin America and the Caribbean region.
Enriching and teaching are key.
“I’m led to believe that experiencing the Church in another part of the world and then sharing and building on those experiences can only enrich the church and school communities,” shared Erin, who visited Trinity Lutheran last year, sharing her mission story.
This spring, Andrea Hussong, Jill Schmitzer and Rachel Meyer will spend time with teachers and students at the Escuela Luterana la Concordia in Palmar Arriba in the Dominican Republic.
“It’s good to look beyond your own horizons,” shared Mercedes, who is the principal at the Escuela Luterana la Concordia. “We all have something to teach each other, and I hope it inspires all to return to the classrooms with renewed love and fervor.”
Trinity’s partnership with the mission field in the Dominican Republic is thriving.
Trinity School and the Escuela Luterana la Concordia have had connections through zoom, while Trinity members and leaders have visited the Dominican Republic, gaining a better of understanding of how we can continue to work together.
“Within the framework, a school to school and church to church partnership can flourish in ways that will be transparent, purposeful, and mutually beneficial,” Erin shared.
Even if it’s some 2,000 miles away.
