Any guesses as to the most used space in Trinity’s facility?
It’s the gym – and it’s not even close.
On average, Trinity’s gym is used from 7:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. most weekdays from August to the end of the May – this doesn’t include weekend athletic events, band and choir concerts, along with other miscellaneous events and summer activities.
It’s a busy and integral space for Trinity Lutheran.
However, all the traffic has left its imprint.
The gym floor has lost its traction.
Safety concerns include the faltering bleachers, and the need for a sound system. Initial repairs to the gym began this past fall, with the filling of the cracks in the walls, along with a fresh coat of paint.
The cost to replace the gym floor and bleachers, along with
installing a sound system is about $120,000.
“It’s time,” shared a representative from Specialty Floors out of Rockford, Ill., who was on Trinity’s campus a couple of weeks ago inspecting the gym floor. “I can tell you have gotten a lot of use out the floor, but you are at a point where you need to start over, with sanding the floor down to the wood, repainting lines, and start the re-sealing process.”
It’s time.
It’s part of the moving forward process—preaching God’s Word and educating children in a loving and safe community.
It’s who we are. It’s who we have been for the past 154 years.
Jesus said: “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for that is why I came out.” (Mark 1:38)
We are: Chosen. Growing. Proclaiming. Crowned.
